TONY MCVEY – KING KONG - RARE RESIN - MENAGERIE PRODS. 2001 Here's an incredible resin figure from the one and only super talented Tony McVey! It’s KING KONG and he’s running at you! Tony cut his teeth doing stop motion animation under his mentor Ray Harryhausen! Tony has worked on a ton of genre classics including Return of the Jedi and Gremlins to name a couple. He continues to work as a sculptor and designer to this day! His sculptures and model kits are known for their impressive and lifelike detail and movement. There's a tension in the muscles he sculpts! His pieces have always been very rare and hard to come by unless you happened to live in California near Kit Kraft hobby shop where his Universal Monster resin kits were sold! He produced and cast his pieces in very limited numbers. All of them released under his own company Menagerie Productions in San Francisco California. This is his take on a charging King Kong and was created back in 2001. The base is marked "T. McVey 2001 Menagerie Prods." This is the only one I've ever seen for sale! It's a beautiful sculpture and really captures the emotion and rage of the great ape!
