Sunshine Models 38.1 Sp B-50-15 Ho Boxcar Kit

Here is your chance to enhance your modeling skills while enjoying completion of a fine scale craftsman kit. This item is a very accurate Sunshine Model Company HO scale model kit (#38.1) of a Southern Pacific 40' B-50-15 boxcar. The prototype cars numbered 3,100 cars built in 1925-26 by multiple builders. Over the years these cars saw rebuilding over and extended period (1930s-1940s). These rebuilds took many forms included upgrading of the roofs, ends, and sides of the car as well as underframe modifications for AB brakes. Sunshine Models made numerous kits to represent the the cars as built and as rebuilt. There were many combinations of ends, sides and roofs. This kit  features the sides with wood sheathing and the radial roof. The kit also features the original end door typically used for finished lumber loading. Decals are provided to cover the 1920-1950s time frame. The kit is primarily resin construction with resin roof, sides ends and underbody. You must provide the trucks and couplers and added weight. The other detail parts such as grabs, brake parts, ladders, hoses, brackets, hand brakes, running board and stirrup steps are provided with the kit. The kit is unpainted and decals are provided. The kit comes with extensive prototype information and assembly instructions. Many photos are also included in the prototype information handout. Sunshine Models is no longer in business and these cars are highly sought after by SP modelers. Kits of this vintage  lack the following items : Trucks, weight and couplers
. Many of these cars lasted into the 1950s and 1960s after various rebuilds and refurbishments.
