On August 15, 1927 a patent was filed by
Jay W. Smith for a Single Step Boat. Jay was the son of Chris Craft founder
Chris Smith. Chris Smith and Sons Boat Company made a drawing of the boat with
a 1927 copyright. The patent was issued
on February 11, 1930 with number US1,746,912 . A feature article about the
design was published in the JULY/AUGUST 2021 edition of Classic Boating magazine. The patent and the 1927 drawing were used
to design a ¼ scale model of the Chris Craft 22’ Single Step Runabout. The
model is 66” long with a 17 ¾” beam. The CAD plans are three sheets 36” X 72”
and one sheet 36” X 48”. The plans show all shaped parts in full scale for the
model. The Laser cut short kit has all the stations cut from ¼” Basswood. It
has aircraft plywood parts to mount an Astro M860 motor in the proper position,
at the proper angle, and give plus or minus 1/10 th inch adjustment
up and down and side to side. The motor may be removed and replaced without
disturbing the alignment. The kit contains all the cut shapes to build a
beautiful model of this rare boat. All the parts shown on sheets 3 and 4 are
included in the kit in the quantities called for. The plans are perfect full
size plots. The kit also includes a print out of the patent. The handling time
is extended, your kit will not be cut until payment is received. The kit will
be shipped Priority Mail in a 6 X 6 X 48” 9 pound box. International shipments will be
International Priority Mail. I do not use the Ebay Global shipping program.
