Up for sale is the Monogram 1/72 Scale, Boeing B-36 Bomber Peacemaker, Plastic Model Kit 5707 . Item is vintage 1980, in factory sealed box and has never been opened, in mint condition. Please, look closely at photos for details and condition of item. When the first B-36 rolled out in the open in 1947, it was the most enormous bomber any one had ever seen. As the long, graceful, tubular fuselage emerged in to view, it extended a full 163 feet from tip of nose to end of the tail. Its wing spanned 203 feet and the rudder towered almost 47 feet into the air. And what does it take to get the largest airplane in the world off the ground? Six engines, mounted on the trailing edge of the wings, delivered 3500 hp each to pusher propellers while four turbojets paired in pods under the wings, added 5200 lbs of thrust each. It was capable of carrying 84,000 lbs of bombs. Designed in 1941, the B-36 was in production for the Air Force until 1954. The last B- 36 in service with the Strategic Air Command was retired in 1959 . The 1/72 scale kit is 27.75 inches long when assembled, It has the longest wingspan of any plastic scale model airplane kit ever made, over 38 inches. Molded in silver with clear windshield, it has fully detailed landing gear, cockpit and nose compartment, 80 bombs in the bomb bays, optional electronics fairings and four seated crewmen. Decal sheet includes insignia for two deferent aircraft including a RC-36H assigned to SAC. Can be assembled with bomb bays opened or closed and with landing gear up or down. Propellers spin and tail turret moves. May be painted to match photos on box. This particular model kit was copyrighted in 1980. Recommend for advanced modelers and collectors.
